Utah's Residential Solar-Plus-Storage Model Could be America's Blueprint

Utah is leading the charge in residential solar innovation thanks to a unique partnership between an energy utility, a battery company, and a solar installer that’s delivering economic benefits to homeowners across the Beehive State. Rocky Mountain Power’s Wattsmart program attracts thousands of residents into the solar-plus-battery future, offering financial incentives and payments to make the switch. These systems form a "virtual power plant" that not only keeps energy rates low but also slashes carbon emissions and strengthens the grid.

But selling homeowners on pricey, battery-enhanced systems isn’t without its challenges. As solar incentives shifted, many companies abandoned Utah. Not ES Solar. They doubled down, mastering the solar-plus-battery model, and now handle 96% of all Wattsmart installations. Positioned at the forefront of this new era in residential solar, ES Solar is proving that the future is already here.

Zach Randall, Vice President of Sales at ES Solar, joins Supercool to discuss how the company took the lead in Utah’s evolving solar landscape and what lies ahead for solar and battery systems across the U.S.
